Mint Julep

Classic Derby day recipe with bourbon, mint and nugget ice

  • Silver Cup (optional)
  • GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker
  • Muddler or Wooden Spoon


  • 2 oz Bourbon (We used Woodford Reserve)
  • 8 Leaves Fresh Mint
  • ΒΌ oz Simple Syrup
  • 3 drops Bitters (garnish)
  • 1 Mint Sprig (garnish)


  • Add mint leaves and simple syrup to cup and gentle muddle together with a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon
  • Add bourbon and pack nugget ice nearly to the top of the cup
  • Stir until outside of glass is frosted
  • Fill the rest of the glass with nugget ice, garnish with the mint sprig and add 3 drops of bitters
