Shopping for winter clothes is easier when you live in a warmer climate. I’m originally from Indiana where the temperature hovers around the 20’s and regularly drops to sub-zero temps. Now I’m living in Austin, TX, and we have a much milder, “friendlier” winter. Sure, it might occasionally dip into the 20’s, but it usually hangs somewhere in the 50’s.
That means heavy winter coats aren’t going to get a lot of use. Instead I opt for lighter weight coats and layers to deal with the cool temperatures in the morning. I’ve been wearing a lot of clothes from RIVER ISLAND lately, because they have a big selection, and they’re new to the US, so I’ve dedicated this post to some of their great winter coats. I’ve styled a couple below and linked another 16!
Fleece Lined Hood Shirt – $76 $40 // Grey Textured Chenille Knit Jumper – $60
Tan Boots – $100 $60 // Jeans – $70 $30
I know it’s called a shirt, but this feels much more like a light jacket, and it’s crazy cheap at just $30. Definitely worth picking up.
Stone Premium Suede Racer Jacket – $260 // White Muscle T-Shirt – $20
Grey Military Boots – $120 // Jeans – $60
I’ve been looking for this type of jacket and finally decided to pick one up. With the discount, it’s $195, which is a good deal, but if it’s outside your price range, I’ve included a couple similar faux suede jackets below.
