My typical day involves working from home, hanging out with my kids, and popping into meetings, so I opt to keep it casual when possible. Around spring, you always have to deal with big temperature fluctuations – especially in Texas – so it’s smart to dress in light layers that can be shed as necessary. I also like to stay comfortable, because, as a dad, you never know what you might get into. I’ve put together two ideal outfits for spring. One is what I’d normally wear during the week and another that’s great for a casual weekend.
For the first outfit, I’ve combined a light jean jacket with dark denim and Timberland’s chukka boots for a casual but refined look that’s perfect for jumping between coffee meetings. The boots are super comfortable, and they’re made from full-grain leather, so they’re going to age well.
The second outfit is a more casual look with ripped jeans, white henley, and Timberland’s nubuck cupsole chukka shoes ideal for weekends downtown with the kids and friends. The sleeves on the henley can be rolled up as the day gets hotter, and the chukka shoes are versatile enough to handle whatever we get into.
I’ve paired both outfits with Timberland’s classic 20-liter backpack and their Pinkerton Ion Plated Watch. The backpack is perfect for carrying along everything I need for my meetings around town, and also for anything extra I might need for the kids. It has 2 laptop sleeves, so when we travel I can fit both my wife and my laptops! We travel a lot, and when we do I’m always stuck carrying two carry-ons for our computers… no more!
I picked the Pinkerton watch for it’s versatility. I like the bigger face, and with both the black and brown tones, it matches perfectly with both outfits. It’s water resistant to 100m (330 ft) as well, but I’ve been unwilling to test it, because I really like the current color of the leather. If you’re looking to pick one up, you’ll want to act fast, because they didn’t have a lot left last time I checked.
Either of these shoes would make an excellent Father’s Day gift. They are a great addition to your closet, that you can mix and match with numerous outfits. That’s all for now.
