It’s time to break up your monotonous weeks and add some flavor to your life. You don’t have to break the bank or plan a European holiday to enjoy yourselves.
My wife and I are still in to process of building up our own companies, so we’re still trying to stay very frugal (as I advised here), but that doesn’t mean we still don’t take time to get away and relax!
Our most recent getaway was a staycation to the Sage Hill Inn just outside of Austin, TX, and it was a bit different from the rest of our staycations. Traditionally, we’ve been staying at downtown luxury hotels, so we could get out and enjoy the city like we used to prior to our first son.
Sage Hill Inn was different. It was like staying at your very rich friends country house.
When we arrived we were taken on a quick tour of the grounds to talk about where dinner would be served, the hours of the library (it never closes), the pool, the late night coffee, tea, and cookie area, and our room.
Our room was upscale, but comfortable. It was different than the minimal, modern feel we had grown used to where we normally stay. It felt like the room itself wanted you to relax.
In everything we saw at Sage Hill Inn, you could tell they spent a lot of time getting the details right. Our room came not only with an espresso maker but a coffee maker as well. Our fridge was stocked with both Mexican Coca Cola, sparkling, and flat water. The room came with a set of binoculars and a wide brimmed hat in case you felt like taking a hike on the trails that had ice cold water stations along the way.
If you’re looking for a great weekend staycation to relax with you S/O, it’s hard to beat. We’ll definitely be stopping by again soon.
