If there’s one thing I’ve learned you need to be successful with a new business, it’s the ability to do many things. It’s not even the ability to do all of them particularly well, just the willingness to learn them.
For example, when I started the business that became MrDelivery.com, a restaurant delivery service, I had to learn how to build and manage a website, handle employee scheduling, create a marketing plan, build relationships with restaurants so they would join our service, deal with required government reporting, figure out the right salary to pay various employees, and the list goes on. When a business is just starting up, most people don’t have the money to hire people to handle all of the various jobs, nor should they.
For many of the tasks, I wasn’t the best at them, but being willing to learn to do them all allowed me to get a better grasp of them, so that when the task became too big, I knew what I needed to look for in the person I would hire to do the job.
In my regular day-to-day work, I’m normally wearing casual clothes, and there are a couple reasons for that. First, if it’s not going to benefit my business, why would I? Second, still to this day I play multiple roles in my businesses, and I like to be ready for anything.
That’s part of the reason I think Hush Puppies are perfect for work. Whether you suit up for the office or, like me, wear a more casual style, the brand offers a range of shoes that are comfortable, stylish and perfect for tackling the day. They make great casual shoes, and fit in my “be ready for anything” mantra. I’m wearing their Performance Expert, which are a part of their new fall collection. They’re a nice mix between casual and classy, and they have a Dri-Lex® lining which keeps feet cool and dry no matter where the day takes you. I’ve never seen this feature before, but it makes the shoes INCREDIBLY comfortable.
If your job requires a more formal look, they have some other great options like the Simon Ploy, their take on the lace-up loafer, or the Connor Ploy if you’re prefer an ankle boot. Looking for something more casual? I’m a fan of their black leather Tygo Commissioner, because it’s perfect for fall and goes with almost anything. With over 190 different men’s shoes, they have a style for everyone.
If anyone is starting their own business or trying to improve their existing business feel free to ask me anything either in the comments below or by email. Starting my own business was one of the best decisions I’ve made, so I love to help anyone else looking to make the same jump.
This post is sooo relatable! Love the shoes too!
SO true! Sometimes it can be hard to take on so many roles. But it looks like you’re killing it.
