Our Stay at Hotel Granduca

We had heard great things about the Hotel Granduca in Austin, so when we had the chance to stay there a couple weeks ago, we jumped at it.  We normally stay at least a couple nights wherever we go, so we can really explore, but we only had time to stay for one night on this visit.  On top of that, it rarely rains in Texas, but when it does, it RAINS, and unfortunately we had thunderstorms both days of our stay.  Not to worry, we had a spacious room and great food to keep us occupied.

The hotel is designed in an old-world Italian style and fits perfectly atop a rocky hill in the Westlake area, only 15 minutes from downtown Austin.  Our room came stocked with everything we could need and they had even set up a travel crib for Noah.

The rain ended any thoughts we had about heading to the pool, so we checked out the happy hour at Visconti. They had a selection of mouth-watering pizzas to choose from, so we ordered both the Parma and Magherita to split.  Our waitress and the food was awesome.  Hopefully on our next visit we’ll have some sun, because they have some great spaces to sit outside.

The next morning, Noah and I were pumped to head out to the pool, but we were in for more rain again.  We’ll make sure to plan our next visit with some sun in the forecast, because they have a salt water pool and some great cabanas to hang out in pool side.

If you’re already in Austin, it’s worth the trip to try their happy hour, and if you’re traveling to Austin for business, the Hotel Granduca feels more relaxing than the city scene and is just a stones throw from downtown.
